"Fly. Be Free." Video Tutorial for Scraps of Elegance "A Song of Spring" Kits!

It has been a while, ladies and gentlemen, but I just completed a video tutorial (mostly in fast forward) for my layout titled, "Fly. Be Free." using April's Scraps of Elegance Main Kit and Elements Add On Kit. You can find my video tutorial at the end of my blog post, or you can click here.

Here is a preview of the Main Kit and the Elements Add On Kit:

I wanted to start using some extra photos I had sitting around in my stash that I never used for previous layouts, so I used this selfie.  Here are some details:

In my video tutorials, I usually use a pencil to mark where I want some of my elements to be on the page (so that I am not "fussing around" during the video).  After my video tutorial was finished and uploaded, I realized I left this little pencil dot above my purple rose!  The moral of the story is: Remember to erase your pencil marks when you are finished. :-)

I hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to see the newest Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance Kits at the online store.  For more amazing inspiration and tutorials, please visit the Scraps of Darkness blog.

"Possibility" Layout with the April Scraps of Elegance Kits!

Hi everyone! I just finished my newest layout titled "Possibility" using various elements from the April Scraps of Elegance kit "A Song of Spring", the elements add on, and the floral add on.

I had this picture for a while now - ever since I submitted another layout titled "I am Machine" to a Words and Paintery contest a while ago.

Using the 49 and Market flowers from the Scraps of Elegance Floral Add-On kit along with the Primrose glass glitter and the ephemera from the Elements Add-On Kit, I was able to get the color scheme that I wanted.

Here are some more details of my layout:

I would like to submit my layout to the Mixed Media and Art challenge for April, 2017. Here is a link to their main blog. I was inspired by their color combination and the sketch. I flipped the sketch sideways and "squished it". I focused more on the green than the pale pink simply because my eyes are so green in the picture. :-)

"Joy" Layout using the Scraps of Darkness "Boys Will Be Boys" Kit for March

Hello everyone! Today I would like to share my fourth layout using March's Scraps of Darkness "Boys Will Be Boys" Kit. For the past week, I have actually attempted several different layouts. Finally, I realized the problem I was facing: I was making my backgrounds way more complicated than they needed to be! When I realized what I was doing, it was like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders, and I was able to create this layout titled "Joy".

Here is a preview of the "Boys Will Be Boys" Main Kit and the Elements Add On kit for March:

Using the Blue Fern Studios "Chesterville" collection paper included in the Main Kit, I used black gesso and a stencil to begin my background. When that was dry, I used white paint with the Carabelle Studio Circle Collage Cling Stamp to add the white over the black gesso design.

I wrapped some cheesecloth sprayed with black paint around the star buttons from the Elements Add On kit.

To add a little more interest to my background, I randomly applied the American Crafts POP! Microbeads in "Wave" (included in the Elements Add On Kit) with some matte gel medium.

The title at the bottom is actually some of the BoBunny stickers in the Elements Add On Kit with some Glossy Accents over the letters.

I liked how the title turned out, so I decided to add a pearl to each of my Darice Black Sequins from the Main Kit with Glossy Accents over the embellishments.
