"Lovely" - Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Howdy folks! I just finished a new layout titled "Lovely".

"Lovely" mixed media scrapbooking layout - March, 2017 - Words and Paintery Challenge and 13@rts Challenge

This layout is my entry for this month's challenge at the 13@rts blog - the theme is "clocks" so a clock has to be somewhere on the project.  Here is the mood board for 13@rts:

For inspiration, I also used the 13@rts March Sketch found on the 13 arts ARTelier facebook page.

Also, I am submitting the layout to this month's Words and Paintery challenge - I was intrigued by the color scheme and decided to try it out.

Here are some close ups to see some of the details:

P.S.  I intended to make a video tutorial for this layout. I even continued recording through a gesso accident and a huge glitter spill. But when I spilled embossing powder right after I vacuumed up the glitter, I realized it was mostly a blooper reel and not much of a tutorial... I will be trying to do another video tutorial for my next project.

After so many mishaps, I decided I am making a second youtube playlist dedicated strictly to my bloopers on my videos or pictures of my spills and messes. Wouldn't that be fun? One of my favorite parts of mixed media is making a mess. :-) Why not capture those moments too?

Anyhow, thanks for checking out my "Lovely" layout (haha) today.  Have a great day everyone!

Faux Wood - Mixed Media Decor

Hello ladies and gentlemen! It has been a while since I posted a new project, and I tried something a little bit out of my comfort range. I decided to do a little home decor project this time. Using a lot of different media to create the background, I went for a weathered wooden panel look.

Faux Wood mixed media crackle home decor

I used lace from an older Scraps of Elegance kit, rhinestones, microbeads, cardboard, and many other items (including Q-Tips to make the little berry branch). Here are some closeups and details:

I was inspired to make this from two different challenges. The first one is the Scrap Magic challenge - wood and rhinestones.  Here is the gorgeous inspiration board:

Also, when I saw the sketch at the Mistress Owl blog, I felt that a home decor item would do really well to fit the sketch.

I hope you enjoyed my interpretation of the challenges - both blogs offer great inspiration!

"Forever" - Monochromatic Mixed Media Layout

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone's year has started out well.

To begin 2017, I decided to do a monochromatic mixed media layout titled "Forever".  My dad "contracted" me to make this present for some friends of the family, so I put the final layout in a white shadow box. The colors in their house match the 13@rts Aura Rosa collection papers, so a I used the "Spring Flowers" paper for my background.

Monochromatic mixed media scrapbook layout titled "Forever" with silver, green, black and white. Acrylic paints, glass beads, gesso. 13arts paper collection Aura Rosa. Wedding photo.

I seriously used every single acrylic medium I own for this project with some acrylic paints... Unfortunately, I have some sort of allergy to acrylic paints and mediums. I have tried different brands... generic and expensive name brands... and my allergy to the media becomes very hard to handle! LOL

Here are some details and close-ups:
