"What a View" - Layout Using the NEW Scraps of Darkness Kit!

Oh my goodness everyone! I must say that I am in love with June's Scraps of Darkness "Seaside Kit". You know those times when you see a picture of something and think, "I really like that," but then you see it in real life and you think, "I am in LOVE with this!"?  That is what happened when my kits came in the mail.

Now that I have shared my excitement, I want to share this special layout with you titled "What a View" just in time for the Fourth of July celebrations.  The picture was actually taken while on a military plane flying near Pensacola, Florida.

I also used the Elements Add On Kit for my layout:

I loved using the Kaisercraft High Tide Collection papers and sticker sheet for this particular layout because it has a bit of a masculine with a bit of vintage feel for the nautical theme.

Since the picture captures both the air and the gorgeous beach below, I loved that I could use the Blue Fern Studios' Anchors Away chipboard included in the Elements Add On Kit for my layout.

Continuing with the theme of anchors and chains, I definitely had to use the Prima Montagnac Antique Cord Chain draped over the chipboard anchor.

I want to give credit where credit is due, so I wanted to let you know that one of our designers Lisa Griffith completed a layout a while ago called "Stars and Stripes", and I actually used that layout she created as my inspiration.   That's why I made some homemade chipboard stars to go along with the military theme.

All of the designers on our team create very inspirational artwork, so I encourage you to check the Scraps of Darkness blog for some amazing ideas and tutorials!

Thank you for stopping by today, and I hope you all have a fun and safe weekend. :-)

"Moments" Mixed Media Layout

I hope everyone's weekend was really nice.  I had fun this weekend creating my new layout titled "Moments".  It is so hard to believe this picture was taken seven years ago!  Time really goes by fast.

Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout "Moments" April Scraps of Elegance Kit 49 and Market Flowers and 13arts products by Jessica McFall

For my layout, I wanted to try to create a mottled watercolor effect with my 13arts mists.

My goal when I began the layout was to use some of the gorgeous 49 and Market flowers that came in the April Scraps of Elegance Floral Add On with the little blue flowers included in the main kit. I wanted to try to pull the blues and purples together with the vanilla flowers.

I used a list of 13arts products for this layout: The background paper is from their Timeless Collection, white SPLASH! ink, a stencil (with glass bead gel), navy blue pearl mist, and dirty pink pastel mist.

I thought the Donna Downey Studios' stencil with Prima's Art Extravagance Clear Crackle Paste was an interesting touch.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop on by today! Hope you have a great week.

"Fly. Be Free." Video Tutorial for Scraps of Elegance "A Song of Spring" Kits!

It has been a while, ladies and gentlemen, but I just completed a video tutorial (mostly in fast forward) for my layout titled, "Fly. Be Free." using April's Scraps of Elegance Main Kit and Elements Add On Kit. You can find my video tutorial at the end of my blog post, or you can click here.

Here is a preview of the Main Kit and the Elements Add On Kit:

I wanted to start using some extra photos I had sitting around in my stash that I never used for previous layouts, so I used this selfie.  Here are some details:

In my video tutorials, I usually use a pencil to mark where I want some of my elements to be on the page (so that I am not "fussing around" during the video).  After my video tutorial was finished and uploaded, I realized I left this little pencil dot above my purple rose!  The moral of the story is: Remember to erase your pencil marks when you are finished. :-)

I hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to see the newest Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance Kits at the online store.  For more amazing inspiration and tutorials, please visit the Scraps of Darkness blog.

Thanks for visiting!
