"Cherish" Layout for April's White with One Blog Challenge

Hello everyone! Today I want to share my mixed media layout titled "Cherish" for April's White with One Challenge.

The color this month is red, and since my cat's name was Crimson, I couldn't resist trying a layout! I used laces from my stash and silky red flowers for inspiration from the mood board. Here is the mood board for the challenge:

The chipboard pieces are all from 2Crafty Chipboard - Anika's Floral Frame, flourishes, and title.  I used 13arts Ayeeda Mist in Pearl Scarlet with a Prima crackle stamp on the background.  I also used a Ranger Distress Ink Pad in Fire Brick and Black Soot to go around some of the cardstock behind the photo.

For a more complete list of the remaining products I used for this layout, you can check my list at the end of this post.  Here are a few more closeups:

  4. This is so pretty Jessica! Thank you for your sweet comment, yes it seems we both have taken a long break! I have been making journals this whole time but haven't posted any of them. I still LOVE mixed media, it's so fun to get messy with our paints etc isn't it? I see you're a cat lady too LOL! Right now we have three (not sure how that happened!) So glad you picked up crafting again :)

    1. Well, the journal you just published is absolutely beautiful. I have attempted to figure out your methods to recreate your "style" on some of your pieces... they are so captivating to me! Mysterious, beautiful, elegant, and...messy? Lol Lovely. Upon first glance, it might seem that the colors and items on your pages seem random but they really aren't. I don't know if you are intentional on where you place your items and colors or if it is intuition, but I see a geometric and numeric genius. I see things in terms of numbers and angles, and what you create blows my mind. Lol And in response, I had moved about a year before I took my break from creating, and the room that I was in was a large storage closet... I don't know why, but no matter what I did to try to make it feel nice, I always had a bad Vibe and there. It just felt like a very negative space. I decided to finally move all of my art supplies into a spare bedroom that is now completely covered in a ton of plastic LOL And thank you for the condolences. My kitty was my little girl and best friend, so it's been a tough road. I understand how how it's possible to have 3. They can be fun and independent yet love having love. Anyhow I hope you have a great mother's day and I look forward to seeing your creations.
